Welcome to the submission system for applications to join the Green ERA Hub Summer School for PhD students in 2025.

The Summer School will be hosted by CIHEAM Bari in Italy between July 21 and 25, 2025.

The application system is now open!

Deadline for submission of application documents is February 20, 2025 (CET 12:00h noon).

Thematic areas
The Green ERA Hub Summer School will cover the following thematic areas:

1. Climate resilience in agricultural practices

• Soil environmental monitoring
• Hydrology and irrigation systems
• Interactions at the soil-plant-environment interface in crop management systems

2. Sustainable Agroecosystems

• Organic Agriculture
• Agroecology
• Circularity, zero-Waste

3. Plant pathology and emerging pests and diseases

• Integrated Pest Management
• Epidemiology

Format and programme
The GEH Summer School will include keynote lectures, excursions, onsite visits at CIHEAM interactive workshops and training sessions as well as socialising and network activities during the event.

What does the summer school offer?
Successful applicants will:

• have the expenses covered for travel and summer school participation (main meals included);
• be accommodated on the CIHEAM-Bari campus;
• have the chance to discuss their research and the research of others with high level experts in the different thematic fields (see above);
• have the chance to interact and network with a diverse set of stakeholders such as researchers from academia and industry, representatives of European funding organisations;
• participate in a broad set of planned activities (excursion, thematic workshop, career training etc);
• enjoy and experience social and cultural activities in the region of Bari.
